Job Description

  • 1. Project Planning & ConceptualizationClient Consultation: Meeting with clients to determine their goals, aesthetic preferences, budget, and functional requirements for the space.
  • Space Planning: Analyzing how a space will be used and creating layout sketches that optimize traffic flow and furniture placement.
  • Concept Development: Creating mood boards, color palettes, and design themes that align with the client’s vision.
  • 2. Technical Design & DocumentationDrafting & 3D Modeling: Using software (like AutoCAD, SketchUp, or Revit) to produce detailed floor plans, elevations, and realistic 3D renders.
  • Technical Specifications: Defining precise measurements and material standards—for example, specifying an 18mm thickness for cabinetry carcasses to ensure structural integrity.
  • Compliance: Ensuring all designs meet local building codes, fire safety regulations, and accessibility standards.
  • 3. Material & Aesthetic SelectionFinishes: Selecting flooring, wall treatments, and ceiling finishes (e.g., acrylic glossy shutters or matte laminates).
  • FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment): Sourcing or designing custom furniture, lighting fixtures, and decorative hardware.
  • Soft Furnishings: Choosing fabrics, upholstery, window treatments, and rugs that complement the overall design.
  • 4. Project Management & ExecutionBudgeting: Preparing a detailed Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and project estimates to manage client costs effectively.
  • Vendor Coordination: Collaborating with electricians, plumbers, painters, and specialized manufacturers to ensure the design is executed correctly.
  • Site Supervision: Visiting the project site to oversee progress, resolve construction issues, and perform measurement cross-checks to ensure the work matches the drawings.
  • 5. Professional CommunicationPresentations: Formally presenting design proposals and material samples to clients for approval.
  • Documentation: Managing contracts, purchase orders, and project timelines to ensure milestones are met on schedule.
