Barista

Key Job Responsibilities

• Beverage Preparation: Expertly preparing espresso drinks, brewed coffee, tea, and blended drinks, often with complex, custom requests.
• Customer Service: Greeting customers warmly, taking orders, and offering menu recommendations.
• Equipment Maintenance: Operating and cleaning espresso machines, grinders, and blenders to ensure quality and prevent breakdowns.
• Cleanliness & Safety: Following sanitation regulations, cleaning work areas, and maintaining food safety standards.
• Sales & Service: Processing payments using a Point of Sale (POS) system and educating customers on coffee beans and brewing equipment.
• Inventory Control: Restocking stations with cups, lids, and ingredients, and tracking inventory levels.
• Product Knowledge: Recommending products and creating a welcoming, knowledgeable atmosphere. WeCP +8

Skills and Requirements

• Technical Skill: Experience with espresso machines and brewing techniques (e.g., pour-over).
• Efficiency: Ability to work fast and stay calm in high-volume situations.
• Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with customers and team members.
• Flexibility: Availability to work flexible hours, including mornings, weekends, and holidays.
• Physical Ability: Capability to stand for long periods, walk, and lift up to 30 pounds. Workable +4

Common Qualifications

• Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is generally required.
• Experience: Previous experience as a barista, waiter, or in customer service is usually preferred.
