Associate - App Dev Generalist - IN
Application Development - Generalist role are involved in software development use specialized knowledge of programming languages, software integration and delivery platforms to build custom software applications and/or enhancements.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • The job also involves application enhancement, debugging, maintenance and documentation.
  • They may also work on customization for in-house/third party product and platforms.
  • Common skill sets include (but are not restricted to) C, C++, Java, J2EE, .Net, Oracle, ABAP etc.

Job Summary: TIAA Global Capabilities is seeking a skilled and self-driven Associate – Application Development Generalist to play a pivotal role within the Omni Development space. Reporting to the Application Development leadership within TIAA Global Capabilities, India, this role is responsible for owning the design, development, and successful deployment of code from an Omni Dev perspective. The Associate will work on both strategic priorities and technology-driven projects, contributing to the stability, enhancement, and evolution of mainframe-based application systems. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with deep expertise in mainframe technologies, a strong sense of ownership, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. 

 

Key Responsibilities and Duties: 

 

  • Play a pivotal role in the Omni Development space, working across strategic and technology-driven initiatives. 

  • Own end-to-end design, development, testing, and successful deployment of application code from an Omni Dev perspective. 

  • Develop and maintain mainframe-based applications using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and DB2 technologies. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions. 

  • Utilize CA7 for job scheduling and Endevor for source code management to ensure efficient and controlled software delivery. 

  • Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and quality assurance activities to uphold high standards of application quality. 

  • Identify, triage, and resolve application defects and performance issues in a timely manner. 

  • Contribute to technical documentation, knowledge sharing, and best practice development within the team. 

  • Partner with senior developers, architects, and business stakeholders to align development efforts with organizational priorities. 

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at modernizing and optimizing existing application landscapes. 

 

 

Required Skills: 

 

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in COBOL development. 

  • 5+ years of experience working with JCL in a mainframe environment. 

  • 5+ years of experience with VSAM file structures and data management. 

  • 5+ years of experience with DB2 database technologies, including query writing and performance optimization. 

  • Working understanding of CA7 for job scheduling and workload automation. 

  • Working understanding of Endevor for software change and configuration management. 

 

 

Preferred Skills: 

 

  • Knowledge of the FIS Omni product, Omni architecture, and Omni Scripting is highly desirable. 

  • Exposure to Linux and Shell Scripting will be considered a strong added advantage.
