Role Context

As the Senior Manager – Software Development, you will be the founding engineering leader for FLX ONE Cargo (F1C) in Pune, responsible for building and scaling high-performing engineering teams across multiple technology tracks.

This role operates across three core engineering areas: Full Stack (Node.js + React/Next.js), Backend Platform (C++), and Platform Engineering (AWS). You are expected to understand and guide teams across these stacks, ensuring alignment to F1C architecture and delivery goals.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You are expected to stay close to architecture, code, and engineering decisions, setting direction through technical depth and execution discipline—not just process or coordination.

What You’ll Own

Engineering Team & Talent

• Build and scale engineering teams across distinct tracks (Full Stack, C++, Platform, AI/Data) aligned to F1C architecture.
• Hire and develop strong technical leaders capable of owning systems, not just tasks.
• Establish clear role expectations and prevent role dilution across engineering tracks.

Delivery & Execution

• Own delivery outcomes across multiple engineering tracks, ensuring predictable execution against committed plans.
• Drive clarity in scope, ownership, and execution across teams aligned to Full Stack, C++, and Platform tracks.
• Ensure teams deliver production-ready systems aligned with F1C architectural principles.

Engineering Standards & Quality

• Establish clear expectations for code quality, review practices, testing, and operational ownership.
  
• Promote pragmatic engineering decisions that balance speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.
  
• Drive consistency in how teams build, deploy, and operate services.
  

Operational Excellence

• Maintain strong operational hygiene across services, including reliability, observability, and incident management.
  
• Use delivery and reliability metrics to identify bottlenecks and drive continuous improvement.
  
• Ensure teams operate effectively in a cloud-native, production-first environment.
  

Collaboration & Alignment

• Work closely with Platform Architects to ensure architectural alignment with FLX ONE Retail and shared services.
  
• Collaborate with AI/Data teams to adopt AI-assisted and data-informed engineering practices where appropriate.
  
• Act as a key engineering stakeholder across cross-functional forums.
  

What You Must Bring

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 4–5 years in engineering leadership roles.
  
• Strong technical background across modern application and platform stacks, including Node.js, React/Next.js, C++, and cloud-native systems on AWS.
• Hands-on experience delivering cloud-native systems on AWS or equivalent platforms.
  
• Proven ability to lead teams delivering complex, distributed systems in production environments.
  
• Strong judgment, clear communication skills, and an ownership-driven leadership mindset.
  

Nice to Have

• Experience in airline, cargo, logistics, or other complex enterprise domains.
  
• Familiarity with modern airline retailing concepts or IATA standards (e.g., ONE Record, One Order).
  
• Exposure to AI-assisted development, automation, or data-driven engineering practices.

This role establishes the engineering foundation for FLX ONE Cargo. The teams you build, the standards you set, and the delivery discipline you establish will directly influence how Cargo engineering scales and succeeds over the long term.

Ability to assess and hire across multiple engineering tracks (Full Stack, C++, Platform) with clear understanding of role-specific expectations.

Hands-on technical depth is required—profiles focused purely on coordination or delivery management without engineering depth will not be considered.
