Senior Product Manager Publishing Systems

About the Role 

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager Publishing Systems to join our books product team, Books Publishing Solutions. 

In this role, you will own and evolve key product areas across the lifecycle from idea and proposal through to a published book. You will define what problems to solve and why, ensuring that our publishing systems and workflows create meaningful value for authors, editors, and the business. 

Working at the intersection of editorial, production, and technology, you will ensure that decisions are grounded in validated user needs, business impact, and technical feasibility, while enabling efficient and scalable content creation. 

Execution and technical implementation are delivered in close collaboration with engineering and operational teams. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

• Own the product strategy and roadmap across the lifecycle from idea and proposal through to a published book  

• Define and continuously refine key problem spaces across the whole publishing journey 

• Identify and validate user needs and pain points before defining solutions, working closely with authors, editors, and internal stakeholders  

• Ensure all major initiatives are grounded in clear problem definition, expected outcomes, and measurable success criteria  

• Drive alignment across systems and workflows to enable a coherent end-to-end publishing process  

• Define requirements and desired outcomes, while collaborating with engineering and operational teams who own solution design and implementation  

• Explore and prioritize ML/AI-assisted approaches across the entire product landscape 

• Ensure data and metadata consistency across the lifecycle from idea through to publication  

• Prioritize initiatives based on user value, business impact, and evidence, balancing customer experience, viability, and feasibility  

• Define and track success metrics to measure impact and inform ongoing prioritization  

 

Experience, Skills & Qualifications 

• Significant experience in product management, ideally in complex, workflow-driven or platform environments  

• Proven ability to define problems, validate solutions, and deliver measurable outcomes  

• Strong experience in product discovery, including user research, problem validation, and hypothesis testing  

• Ability to operate effectively in cross-functional environments, working with editorial, technical, and operational teams  

• Strong analytical and structured thinking, with an outcome-oriented mindset  

• Ability to influence stakeholders and align teams around clear product direction  

• Comfortable working in environments with legacy systems and evolving architectures  

• Experience in publishing, media, or content-driven businesses is a plus, but not required
