Senior Cloud Operations Engineer (Multi-Cloud - Azure Primary)

 

MRI Software is seeking a Senior Cloud Operations Engineer to join our Cloud Operations team. This role is responsible for operating, securing, and optimizing enterprise-grade cloud environments that power our global SaaS platforms.

The position is Azure-first, with secondary exposure to AWS, and requires deep expertise in cloud networking, infrastructure automation, security controls, and production operations. You will play a key role in ensuring platform reliability, governance, cost efficiency, and operational excellence across multi-cloud environments.

This is a hands-on senior role for someone who thrives in complex enterprise environments, enjoys solving production-critical challenges, and can drive operational standards across global teams.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Own and operate highly available, secure, and scalable cloud environments across Microsoft Azure (primary) and AWS (secondary).
  • Lead production cloud operations, ensuring uptime, performance, and resiliency of SaaS workloads.
  • Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform for multi-cloud environments.
  • Architect, manage, and troubleshoot enterprise cloud networking including:
    • Azure Application Gateway & WAF
    • Azure Firewall
    • Palo Alto NGFW (VM-Series)
    • VPN, ExpressRoute, AWS Direct Connect
    • VNet/VPC peering, private endpoints, hybrid connectivity
  • Collaborate with security teams to implement Zero Trust principles and enforce governance controls.
  • Implement and maintain identity and access management using:
    • Entra ID (Azure AD)
    • RBAC
    • Azure Policy
    • AWS IAM
  • Support and optimize AKS and EKS clusters, including ingress, DNS, certificates, and security hardening.
  • Enhance and support CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
  • Monitor and improve observability using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and cloud-native tools.
  • Lead incident response and root cause analysis for production issues.
  • Drive automation initiatives to reduce operational toil and increase reliability.
  • Partner with Platform Engineering and DevOps teams to support new product deployments.
  • Contribute to cloud cost optimization and FinOps practices.
  • Define operational standards, runbooks, and best practices for global cloud operations.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across cloud initiatives.

 

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of experience in Cloud Operations / DevOps / Cloud Infrastructure roles.
  • Deep hands-on expertise in Microsoft Azure (required).
  • Strong working knowledge of AWS (networking, IAM, compute, storage).
  • Proven experience managing enterprise SaaS production environments.
  • Advanced Terraform experience for multi-cloud infrastructure provisioning.
  • Strong expertise in cloud networking architecture and security design.
  • Hands-on experience managing Palo Alto firewalls (VM-Series preferred) in cloud environments.
  • Strong understanding of hybrid networking and routing concepts (BGP, UDRs, route tables).
  • Experience with Kubernetes (AKS preferred, EKS a plus).
  • Strong troubleshooting and incident management experience.
  • Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments.
  • Solid scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, or Python).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across global teams.
  • Ability to lead technical discussions and influence cloud operational standards.
  • Availability to work flexible shifts (including night shifts) in a 24x7 support environment

 

Preferred Certifications

  • Microsoft Azure (AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-400)
  • AWS Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional)
  • Terraform Associate
  • Palo Alto certification (PCNSE) - highly desirable

 

Education 

  • Bachelor’s/master’s degree in software engineering, Computer Science, or a related area
