Introduction:
GlobalFoundries is seeking a motivated, self-driven intern to develop a more efficient compact modeling flow using AI/ML/Automation techniques.
Your Job
- Compact models are basically a set of equations of semiconductor physics that are used to describe the electrical behavior of semiconductor devices such as MOSFETs.
- A compact model development flow essentially starts with measured electrical transistor characteristics, which are cleaned, trend-plotted, median (or golden) data is selected, after which the compact model parameters are optimized for best fit, something called “fitting” or “extraction”. Post the core model extraction, several peripheral behaviors are also “fitted” using more compact parameters. There are 10-12 such steps in the overall MOSFET compact model extraction process, which can take typically take 8-12 weeks.
- The objective of this internship is to improve the above model extraction flow using automation as well as AI/ML paradigms such as neural networks, LLMs, etc. by drilling down into each of the above steps in the compact modeling flow, and try to replace, or enhance, the existing automation flow, with more efficient code, neural networks, or LLM generated code.
- The ideal candidate should be pursuing a PhD in semiconductor domain or AI/ML domain with a high degree of expertise in Python programming, neural networks, LLMs and the like. A good understanding of device physics and compact modeling is also expected.
- The candidate should be technically highly competent, highly self motivated and should be capable of working in a fast paced dynamic environment, and have excellent communication and team skills. The position is based out of Bangalore.
Required Qualifications:
- Pursuing a PhD in semiconductor domain with a strong knowledge of Python, neural networks, LLMs, or be pursuing a PhD in the area of LLMs with a basic understanding of semiconductor physics and compact models.
