Senior Associate - GDS Internal Audit

The opportunity

This role will be part of the GDS Internal Audit team, which is focused on in-house audits for GDS globally.

We are looking for candidates with a strong foundation in internal auditing, excellent documentation skills, and the ability to leverage technology, data analytics, and emerging tools (including AI enabled audit techniques) to enhance audit quality and efficiency.

You will play a key role in independently planning and executing internal audits across the organisation and involves working closely with multiple internal stakeholders across functions to evaluate processes, controls and risk and to drive effective remediation.

Your key responsibilities

  • Independently plan and execute end-to-end internal audits, including Process audits, Concurrent audits, Data analytics driven audits.
  • Develop a strong understanding of organisational processes, risks, and control environments across different functions within GDS.
  • Perform walk-through, control testing and detailed audit procedures in line with internal audit methodology and professional standards.
  • Use audit tools, data analytics and technology enabled techniques to identify risk anomaly and control gaps.
  • Prepare clear, detailed and high-quality audit documentation, including working papers, audit observations, and reports.
  • Engage with stakeholders to discuss audit findings, agree on practical remediation plans, track action plans, and follow-ups.
  • Demonstrate strong ownership of audits, managing timelines, dependencies, and coordination with multiple teams.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of internal audit methodology, templates, and use of technology.
  • Maintain professional scepticism, diligence and confidentiality while executing audits.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Strong understanding of internal audit principles, risk assessment and control framework.
  • Experience in concurrent audits, and audits requiring high levels of detail and ongoing engagement.
  • Understanding of the organisational processes across different functions such Finance, Procurement, Talent, etc.
  • Excellent documentation and reporting skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Well-organised, proactive and able to manage multiple audits or workstreams simultaneously.
  • Comfortable working with audit tools, data analytics, and technology-enabled audit approaches
  • Exposure to AI based audit tools or automation is an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of Power BI or similar visualisation tools is a good to have (not mandatory).
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to identify root causes and practical solutions
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact confidently with stakeholders across levels and functions.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (ICAI) with a minimum of 2 years of experience, including relevant audit experience
  • University graduate/post-graduate or equivalent degree with 5+ years of experience with at least 2 years of relevant audit experience

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Proficiency in MS – Office
  • Familiarity with data analytics driven audits and continuous auditing approaches.
  • Experience working in shaded services, large organisation or matrix environment.
  • Interest in learning and applying new technologies and tools and audit life cycle.
  • A mindset focused on quality, continuous improvement and value addition.
