Technical Writer, Android Developer Relations

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 4 years of experience creating content for technical audiences (e.g., developer documentation, Computer Science course material, or IT administration playbooks).
• 2 years of experience with a technical background working alongside software developers.

Preferred qualifications:

• 5 years of experience in project management.
• Experience with a technical background working alongside software developers.
• Experience working across multiple time zones.
• Understanding of Android/iOS from both the user and developer perspectives.

Responsibilities

• Work with engineers, program managers, and UX researchers to identify documentation needs and propose content plans to address them.
• Deliver documentation for tooling and APIs by scoping work, securing stakeholder buy-in, creating and publishing draft updates, and communicating progress.
• Develop content strategy and editorial guidelines. Deliver content that is well aligned with our IA and quality standards.
• Help us transform authoring and quality through new tools and workflows, such as by using gen AI.
• Work with locally-based product teams to meet documentation needs.

About the job

Technical writers plan, create, and maintain educational content as an integral part of the engineering or user experience. The content is often in the form of documentation, but may also be UI text, sample code, videos, or other educational material. Regardless of the content medium, technical writers are distinguished by their abilities to explain complex topics in a way that’s useful to their audience.
