Database Administrator

Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled Database Administrator to manage, secure, and optimize our data infrastructure. In this role, you will be the guardian of our databases, ensuring high availability, top-notch performance, and ironclad security. You will work closely with developers to optimize queries and structure data, while also handling the critical operational tasks of backups, recovery, and system health.

Key Responsibilities

• Performance Tuning: Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize complex queries, indexes, and database configurations for maximum speed and efficiency.
• Maintenance & Availability: Handle routine database maintenance, upgrades, patching, and data migrations with minimal downtime.
• Backup & Recovery: Design, implement, and test robust backup and disaster recovery plans to guarantee zero data loss.
• Security & Compliance: Manage user access, permissions, and encryption to ensure the database is secure and complies with data protection standards.
• Developer Collaboration: Assist development teams with schema design, code reviews for database scripts, and best practices for data storage.

What We Are Looking For

• Experience: Proven experience as a DBA managing production databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or Oracle).
• Technical Skills:
•    * Expertise in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries and stored procedures.
•    * Strong knowledge of database design, architecture, and data modeling.
•    * Experience with database replication, clustering, and high-availability setups.
•    * Familiarity with cloud database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL) and scripting languages (like Bash or Python) for automation is a plus.
• Core Competencies:
•   * A proactive mindset toward monitoring and preventing issues before they affect users.
•    * Strong troubleshooting skills to resolve critical database alerts under pressure.
•    * Clear communication skills to explain technical database concepts to non-DBA teams.
