Deputy Manager (Engineering & Maintenance)

Role Objective:

The Deputy Manager – Maintenance will be responsible for ensuring 24/7 machine uptime, preventive maintenance excellence, utility stability, and zero production loss due to equipment failure within the virgin pulp molded packaging manufacturing facility.

This role will own the complete maintenance ecosystem across production machinery, utilities, electrical systems, and plant infrastructure, ensuring smooth plant operations, technical reliability, energy efficiency, and safety compliance.

The position plays a critical role in establishing a strong preventive maintenance culture, technical discipline, spare readiness, vendor coordination, and future plant expansion readiness.

• Key Responsibilities

1. Machine Uptime & Breakdown ManagementEnsure machine availability above 90% across all critical production lines

• Maintain breakdown response time of less than 20 minutes
• Drive immediate troubleshooting and restoration of:
• Automatic pulp molding machines
• Pulping systems
• Trimming machines
• Vacuum systems
• Air compressors
• Thermic Fluid Heater
• Utilities and support equipment
• Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for repetitive breakdowns
• Implement corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence
• Reduce Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) and improve Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF)
• Ensure zero downtime due to delayed maintenance response

2) Preventive Maintenance (PM) Planning & ExecutionDevelop and execute complete Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedules for all plant machinery and utilities

• Maintain PM compliance above 95%
• Build machine-wise maintenance calendars and shutdown plans
• Introduce predictive maintenance practices wherever possible
• Ensure lubrication management, calibration schedules, and inspection routines
• Maintain machine history cards and equipment health records
• Develop maintenance SOPs and technical documentation systems
• Ensure spare planning is aligned with preventive shutdown schedules

3) Utilities Management & Process StabilityEnsure uninterrupted operation of:

• Air compressors
• Vacuum systems
• Thermic Fluid Heater
• Cooling systems
• Electrical panels
• DG backup systems
• Water and utility lines
• Maintain stable vacuum and air pressure for production consistency
• Monitor compressor efficiency and utility performance
• Manage energy consumption through:
• Kilowatt Hour per Ton output tracking
• load balancing
• energy loss reduction
• Improve Thermic Fluid Heater efficiency and utility optimization
• Prevent utility-driven production losses

4) Spare Parts & Technical Vendor CoordinationEnsure availability of all critical maintenance spares

• Coordinate with OEMs and technical vendors for:
• machine troubleshooting
• installation support
• commissioning
• upgrades and modifications
• Review and approve technical spare requirements
• Build emergency vendor response systems for urgent breakdowns
• Support plant expansion and new machine installation readiness
• Maintain AMC, service schedules, and vendor performance reviews

5) Safety, Electrical Compliance & Risk ControlEnsure full compliance with:

• Electrical safety norms
• Lockout / Tagout (LOTO)
• preventive isolation procedures
• machine guarding standards
• Conduct utility and maintenance risk assessments
• Prevent fire, overload, and electrical failure risks
• Ensure safe shutdown and restart procedures
• Support statutory inspections and compliance documentation
• Drive safe maintenance practices across shifts and contractors

6) Maintenance Systems, Reporting & DocumentationMaintain daily breakdown reports and shift-wise maintenance tracking

• Develop dashboards for:
• uptime
• breakdown frequency
• PM compliance
• spare consumption
• utility efficiency
• Track recurring failures and action closure
• Maintain audit-ready documentation for maintenance and safety
• Support internal audits and external inspections
• Improve maintenance planning through data-based decision-making

7) Team Leadership & Shift ManagementLead maintenance technicians, electricians, utility operators, and support staff

• Ensure 24/7 maintenance readiness across all shifts
• Drive manpower productivity and accountability
• Train teams on:
• preventive maintenance
• machine troubleshooting
• utility handling
• electrical safety
• LOTO practices
• Build discipline, ownership, and technical capability within the maintenance team
• Support succession planning for future plant scale-up
