AutoCAD Design Engineer

Design Engineer – Lightning Protection Systems (LPS) as per IEC 62305

Position Summary

The Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, analysis, and implementation of External and structural Lightning Protection Systems (LPS) in compliance with IEC 62305 standards. The role involves engineering calculations, risk assessments, site inspections, and preparation of technical documentation to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

Key ResponsibilitiesSystem Design & Engineering

• Develop LPS designs in accordance with IEC 62305 Parts 1–4 (general principles, risk management, physical damage, and electrical/electronic systems).
• Perform risk assessments to determine lightning protection levels for structures and facilities.
• Select appropriate materials, conductors, air terminals, and earthing systems.

Project Execution

• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, layouts, and technical specifications.
• Conduct site surveys and inspections to validate design feasibility.
• Coordinate with civil, electrical, and mechanical teams for integration of LPS.

• Ensure adherence to IEC 62305 and local regulatory requirements.
• Prepare design reports, risk analysis documentation, and final project deliverables.
• Support audits and certification processes.

Collaboration

• Work closely with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure smooth execution.
• Provide technical guidance and training to junior engineers or site staff.
• Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering.
• 3–5 years of experience in lightning protection or electrical safety engineering.
• Strong knowledge of IEC 62305 standards and risk assessment methodologies.
• Proficiency in CAD tools and electrical design software.

Technical Competencies

• Knowledge of grounding system design, soil resistivity testing, and surge protection devices.
• Familiarity with CAD/BIM platforms for LPS integration into building designs.

Standards & Compliance

• Deep understanding of IEC 62305 Parts 1–4 and ability to interpret them in practical scenarios.
• Awareness of local electrical codes and building regulations related to lightning protection.

Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills

• Ability to perform quantitative risk analysis and justify design choices.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for existing LPS installations
