Job description

Job Summary**

We are seeking a skilled OS Administrator to join our team at Hitachi, Ltd. This role is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and reliable operation of computer operating systems, ensuring optimal performance and security for our critical infrastructure.

Job Responsibilities**

* Install, configure, and maintain operating systems (e.g., Linux, Windows Server) on physical and virtual servers.
* Perform routine system administration tasks, including user account management, file system management, and disk space monitoring.
* Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimize resource utilization.
* Apply patches, updates, and service packs to operating systems and related software to maintain security and stability.
* Troubleshoot and resolve operating system-related issues, including boot failures, application errors, and network connectivity problems.
* Implement and maintain backup and recovery procedures for operating systems and critical data.
* Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
* Collaborate with network administrators, database administrators, and application teams to ensure seamless integration and operation.
* Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support and critical incident response.
* Ensure compliance with security policies and industry best practices.

Job Qualifications**

Experience required - 3- 5 years

* Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
* Proven experience as an OS Administrator or similar role, with strong expertise in Linux (e.g., Red Hat, Ubuntu, CentOS) and/or Windows Server operating systems.
* Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and network services.
* Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
* Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Python) for automation.
* Knowledge of storage technologies (SAN, NAS) and file systems.
* Experience with monitoring tools and incident management systems.
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate) are a plus.
