Quality Engineer

Key Responsibilities (Job Description)

1. Inward Quality Control

• Perform incoming inspection of electrical components, Enclosure, UPS, Transformer, BBT, Dimmer, cables, PCB, hardware, and bought-out items.
• Verify material against PO, drawings, specifications, and QAP.
• Maintain inward inspection reports and traceability records.
• Coordinate with stores and purchase teams for rejection/acceptance.
• Initiate supplier NCR for non-conforming materials.

2. In-Process & Final Quality Inspection

• Conduct stage-wise inspection during manufacturing and assembly.
• Ensure wiring, termination, earthing, labeling, ferruling, torque, and panel workmanship meet standards.
• Perform functional testing and validation as per drawings/specifications.
• Carry out final inspection before dispatch.
• Ensure defect-free product release.

3. Outward Dispatch Quality Check

• Verify product completeness, testing reports, and accessories.
• Ensure packing quality and dispatch checklist compliance.
• Confirm documentation set before dispatch.
• Release inspection clearance note.

4. Third-Party / Customer Inspection Handling

• Prepare inspection files before inspection.
• Ensure availability of:
• Approved drawings
• Raw Material Test reports
• Calibration certificates
• QAP
• Datasheets
• Compliance documents
• Coordinate with inspectors and production team.
• Close inspection observations/punch points.

5. Documentation & QAP Management

• Prepare Quality Assurance Plans (QAP) as per project/order.
• Maintain inspection checklists, formats, and reports.
• Prepare order-wise documentation from ERP.
• Ensure document control and revision tracking.
• Maintain inspection history and records.

6. ERP & Order Monitoring

• Check daily ERP orders for quality requirements.
• Ensure inspection stages are planned as per delivery schedule.
• Prepare order-wise documentation sets.
• Track pending inspections and testing status.

7. Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Actions

• Perform RCA for internal and customer complaints.
• Use tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone, Pareto, etc.
• Implement CAPA and monitor effectiveness.
• Reduce recurring defects.

8. Process Improvement & Quality Systems

• Identify process gaps and implement improvements.
• Develop SOPs and inspection standards.
• Support ISO/quality audits and compliance.
• Monitor quality KPIs and rejection trends.

9. Supplier Quality & Audit

• Conduct supplier audits and assessments.
• Monitor supplier performance and rejection rates.
• Approve supplier samples and documentation.
• Drive supplier corrective actions.
