Job Title: Assistant Cook (who can cook Kerala Parottas also)

Job Summary:

As an Assistant Cook at our Kerala cuisine restaurant, you will play a crucial role in preparing and presenting authentic Kerala dishes to our valued customers. You will work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team to ensure the highest quality of food is consistently delivered to our guests. This position requires a deep understanding of Kerala cuisine, excellent culinary skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Food Preparation: Prepare and assist in the preparation of Kerala cuisine dishes, including curries, rice dishes, seafood specialties, and vegetarian options.
2. Recipe Adherence: Follow standard recipes and portion sizes to maintain consistency in taste, quality, and presentation.
3. Ingredient Handling: Ensure the safe and proper handling of ingredients, including storage, rotation, and freshness.
4. Cooking Techniques: Utilize traditional Kerala cooking techniques, such as tempering spices and using coconut in various forms, to create authentic flavors.
5. Assist Head Chef: Collaborate with the Head Chef in planning menus, creating new dishes, and executing daily specials.
6. Quality Control: Monitor food quality throughout the cooking process and make adjustments as necessary to meet quality standards.
7. Kitchen Hygiene: Maintain a clean and organized kitchen area, following all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
8. Teamwork: Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations during busy service hours.
9. Menu Knowledge: Be knowledgeable about the menu offerings and able to provide recommendations to customers.
10. Adaptability: Be open to learning and adapting to changes in the menu or cooking techniques.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a Cook, preferably in a Kerala cuisine restaurant or a similar setting.
• Strong knowledge of Kerala cuisine and traditional cooking methods.
• Culinary degree or relevant certification is a plus.
• Excellent knife skills and proficiency in food preparation techniques.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Attention to detail and a passion for creating delicious dishes.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy pots and pans.
• Comfortable working in a hot and fast-paced kitchen environment.

Working Hours:

This is a full-time position, and the working hours may vary based on the restaurant's operational schedule, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
