Job Title: Housekeeping Staff

Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka (30-Room Boutique Hotel)

Department: Housekeeping

Reports To: Housekeeping Supervisor / Front Office Manager


Job Summary

The Housekeeping Staff maintains impeccable cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation across all 30 guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces in our established 9-year-old property. With 3+ years of hospitality experience, the candidate will execute daily tasks while contributing to scalable systems—such as standardized checklists, inventory tracking, and cross-department workflows—to support hotel growth (e.g., adding F&B outlets or events). This hands-on role ensures 100% room readiness, zero guest complaints on hygiene, and efficient scaling from 70% to 90%+ occupancy, upholding 5-star service standards in a boutique setting.


Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and service 10-15 rooms daily per shift (vacant, occupied, departure), including deep cleaning of bathrooms, floors, linens, and amenities to luxury standards.
  • Maintain public areas (lobby, corridors, restaurant, gym/spa if applicable) with 2-hour spot-check cycles during peak hours.
  • Scale operations by assisting in process development: e.g., digital checklists via apps like Trello or Hotelkit, linen inventory SOPs, and training juniors for team expansion.
  • Report maintenance issues (e.g., leaks, broken fixtures) via logbook/app within 15 minutes; coordinate with engineering for <2-hour fixes.
  • Manage linen/paraphernalia inventory: Track usage, reorder supplies to avoid stockouts, aiming for <5% waste.
  • Follow eco-friendly practices (e.g., water conservation, chemical minimization) per Green Key standards.
  • Support deep cleans quarterly and event setups (e.g., banquets for 50 guests), scaling capacity as hotel grows.
  • Ensure compliance with health/safety regs (FSSAI, Karnataka Labour Laws, COVID protocols).


Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 3+ years in hotel/resort housekeeping; experience in 3-4 star properties preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; certification in housekeeping (e.g., from IHM or AHLA) a plus.
  • Familiarity with scalable tools: Basic mobile apps for task tracking, chemical handling safety.
  • Physical fitness for 8-hour shifts involving lifting (up to 10kg), bending, and standing.
  • Fluent in Kannada/English/Hindi; team player mindset for scaling departments.


Required Skills and Competencies

  • Attention to detail: Spotless execution per 30-point room checklist.
  • Scalability: Help standardize processes (e.g., from manual logs to QR-code inspections).
  • Efficiency: Time tasks to handle 20% occupancy surges.
  • Hygiene expertise: Knowledge of disinfectants, steam cleaning, UV sanitization.
  • Guest interaction: Polite handling of in-room requests.


Performance Parameters and KPIs

  • Quality: 99% rooms "guest-ready" daily; <1 hygiene complaint/month (TripAdvisor/Google score 4.7+).
  • Efficiency: Complete assigned rooms 10% under time quota; support scaling to 40 rooms without quality drop.
  • Productivity: 12-15 rooms/shift at 85% occupancy; zero lost-and-found claims >₹500.
  • Team/Safety: 100% PPE compliance; assist in training 1 junior/month; zero lost-time injuries.
  • Cost Control: Reduce linen damage/waste by 10% quarterly via better handling SOPs.
  • Review Cycle: Weekly supervisor feedback; monthly KPI review; quarterly bonus (₹2,000-5,000) for 95%+ achievement.
