Senior Analyst - Risk Management

American Express is hiring for the role of Senior Analyst - Risk Management!

Responsibilities of the Candidate:

• Work on an independent validation team to challenge company-wide adherence to operational risk frameworks, like Process Risk Self-Assessment (PRSA) and Operational Risk Events (ORE) programs.
• Support the team in various audit exams/requests from different audit groups like IAG, OCC, etc.
• Assist in designing next-gen and transformation of control testing and monitoring – use automation, define key risk indicators (KRIs), and set thresholds for review or action that are informed by the risk appetite for operational risk.
• Provide solid evidence of leadership with the capacity to quickly understand critical requirements in a dynamic and ambiguous environment.
• Perform process walkthroughs on key operational risk processes and provide risk trends and insights to first-line teams.
• Perform advanced data analytics to identify trends, composition, leading indicators, and outlook in operational risk.
• Challenge the accuracy, comprehensiveness, and quality of control environment documentation.
• Assist in the design and maintenance of operational risk frameworks, ensuring programs are being carried out timely and accurately.
• Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills coupled with good presentation skills, including the ability to analyze large sets of data concisely and convey messages to leadership and peers.
• Build reports, dashboards, and metric reporting.
• Evaluate and drive improvements in program processes, timelines, output, and structure.
• Use expertise to support and oversee the implementation of operational risk programs and frameworks, working with operational excellence teams across the company.
• Support projects and initiatives in the improvement of the control environment and 2nd Line of Defense capabilities and standards.

Requirements:

• 2–3 years related work experience in operational risk, project management, or an internal control-oriented field within the banking or financial services industries.
• Knowledge of the control environment and principles of effective risk management, including knowledge of inherent, residual, and realized risk.
• Knowledge of data analytics tools such as Advanced Excel, Tableau, and Archer platforms is required.
• Ability to credibly challenge the control environment and results of company risk management structures.
• Strong relationship management skills and the ability to work effectively with operational risk colleagues, business area points of contact, and leaders.
• Risk-focused and critical attitude, with the ability to identify potential process flaws and drive course correction.
• Undergraduate degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, or a similar field. Familiarity with applications like Archer is an added advantage.
• This role requires one to be in the office for 3 days/week (Hybrid).
