Job Description

About Vision Empower:

Vision Empower (VE) is a nonprofit established in 2017, dedicated to empowering children with visual impairment in the Global South through inclusive education. We engage in research and program development to ensure that subjects like Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), Computational Thinking (CT), Digital Literacy (DL), Reading, and Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE) are accessible to them. Our commitment extends beyond creating content for students; we also focus on re-skilling educators and teachers. This enables them to effectively deliver these programs in classrooms, promoting an inclusive educational environment. To enhance the effectiveness of our programs, we utilize affordable assistive technologies. These technologies not only foster digital literacy among teachers but also support visually impaired students in both special and inclusive schools.

Job Description: As the State Coordinator for Kerala at Vision Empower (VE), you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful implementation of VE interventions in special schools across the state. This position involves overseeing a team of school coordinators and resource teachers, managing state-wide activities, and fostering collaborative relationships with outreach partners and state governments.

  • Team Management: Lead and manage a team of school coordinators and resource teachers to ensure effective coordination and implementation of VE interventions.

  • Training and Development: Provide guidance and support to the team, facilitating training sessions as needed to enhance the skills and capabilities of school coordinators and resource teachers.
  • Coordination with Outreach Partners: Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with outreach partners, fostering a network of support for VE initiatives.
  • Government Relations: Periodically interact with the Kerala state government to coordinate and align VE activities with the broader educational policies and initiatives at the state level.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Implement monitoring mechanisms to assess the impact and effectiveness of VE interventions and provide regular reports to the management team.
  • Budget Management: Work closely with the finance department to manage the budget allocated for state-level activities, ensuring effective utilization of resources.
