JOB DESCRIPTION
Role Title: Deputy Manager – Payroll India
Location: Pune
Purpose of the Role
To support and manage end-to-end payroll operations for multiple legal Entities which includes both blue collar and management staff payroll ensuring accurate, timely salary processing, statutory compliance, reconciliation, and effective query resolution while coordinating closely with HR, Finance, and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end payroll which includes Full & Final settlement process for the blue collar and while collar employees for multiple legal Entities
- Prepare and validate salary payout files. Coordinate with banks/treasury teams for timely salary disbursement.
- Perform monthly payroll reconciliation including:
- Salary registers vs. bank payouts
- Statutory deductions vs. returns
- Payroll vs. finance books
- Work closely with Finance for payroll posting and closure.
- Provide payroll reports, accruals, and provisions (bonus, leave encashment, gratuity, etc.).
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities
- Ensure compliance with applicable labour laws and statutory requirements.
- Support timely filing of returns (PF, ESI, PT, TDS).
- Assist in audits (internal/external/statutory).
- Address employee payroll queries related to salary, tax, deductions, and benefits.
- Provide clear and timely resolutions.
- Maintain a high level of service orientation.
- Generate payroll MIS reports (cost analysis, headcount, variance reports).
- Maintain payroll documentation, SOPs, and audit trails.
- Support automation and process improvement initiatives.
- Co-ordinate the development and changes in the Payroll System with the software provider
- Streamlined ways of working by institutionalizing comprehensive SOPs and robust payroll-to-finance reconciliation frameworks, ensuring 100% accuracy in statutory filings (PF, ESI, TDS) and seamless internal/external audits.
- Engineered advanced MIS reporting structures and variance analysis templates to provide leadership with real-time cost insights, enabling more proactive decision-making during month-end and year-end closures.

What you bring
- Postgraduate in Commerce. MBA in HR / Finance is preferred.
- 8–10 years of experience in managing payroll and financial compliances in medium or large organizations.
- Functional Competencies: Contemporary Payroll Systems knowledge and usage experience, Related Accounting processes knowledge, Audits Management, Strategic mindset, Business Acumen, Strong process & system orientation, Analytical ability
- Behavioral Competencies: Leadership and team management competence, Creative thinking, Futuristic approach, networking skills and cross functional collaboration
