Role Overview

The Architect is responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing the architectural aspects of projects from concept to completion. The role ensures that all designs align with client requirements, statutory regulations, approved drawings, quality standards, safety norms, and project timelines. The Architect acts as a key link between the client, consultants, project management team, and site execution teams to ensure seamless coordination and successful project delivery.

1. Concept Development & Design Planning

• Understand client requirements, project briefs, site conditions, and business objectives.
• Develop innovative and practical architectural concepts aligned with functional, aesthetic, and budgetary requirements.
• Prepare schematic designs, space planning layouts, and feasibility studies.
• Conduct site analysis including zoning regulations, environmental factors, and land use restrictions.

2. Detailed Design & Working Drawings

• Prepare detailed architectural drawings including plans, elevations, sections, and construction details.
• Develop Good for Construction (GFC) drawings and ensure timely issuance to site teams.
• Coordinate design revisions and maintain version control of drawings.
• Ensure accuracy, clarity, and completeness of all drawings issued.

3. Regulatory Approvals & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with local building by-laws, development control regulations, fire safety norms, and statutory requirements.
• Coordinate with authorities, consultants, and liaison agencies for approvals and permits.
• Incorporate regulatory requirements into design documentation.

4. Coordination with Consultants

• Coordinate with Structural, MEP, HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Landscape, and other consultants.
• Conduct design coordination meetings to resolve conflicts between disciplines.
• Ensure architectural intent is maintained while integrating structural and service requirements.

5. Site Supervision & Execution Support

• Conduct periodic site visits to monitor progress and quality of work.
• Ensure construction is carried out as per approved drawings and specifications.
• Clarify drawings and resolve site-related design issues promptly.
• Review mock-ups and samples for materials and finishes before approval.

6. Material Selection & Specifications

• Prepare material specifications and finish schedules.
• Assist in selecting materials, fittings, and finishes aligned with project design intent and budget.
• Evaluate vendor samples and recommend suitable products.

7. Documentation & Project Management Support

• Assist in preparation of BOQs, technical specifications, and tender documents.
• Support the procurement team during vendor finalization and technical evaluation.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of drawings, revisions, approvals, and correspondences.
• Track project timelines related to architectural deliverables.

8. Client Interaction & Presentation

• Present design concepts and drawings to clients.
• Incorporate client feedback while maintaining design integrity.
• Provide regular updates to clients on design progress and milestones.

9. Quality & Safety Assurance

• Ensure adherence to quality standards and best construction practices.
• Promote sustainable and cost-effective design solutions.
• Ensure designs consider safety, accessibility, and usability standards.

10. Innovation & Continuous Improvement

• Stay updated with industry trends, materials, software tools, and construction technologies.
• Suggest value engineering options without compromising design quality.
• Contribute to improving internal design processes and standards.
